The city's first participatory budgeting round started with a two-month proposal period. Applicants were expected to present projects implementable on public property in 2020. A committee of municipal staffers narrowed suggestions to five finalists with the help of nonprofit partner PRAQ. Residents cast online ballots for their favorite projects. The winning project will receive up to $5,000 CAD in public funds for implementation.
