San Mateo County, CA collaborates with cities on pilot that addresses mental health in 911 calls
San Mateo County, CA Cities Pilot 911 Mental Health
Daly City, Redwood City, San Mateo, and South San Francisco are participants in the Community Wellness and Crisis Response Pilot Project. This two-year pilot pairs full-time mental health clinicians with local police officers on 911 calls. Officers assess each situation on the scene before clinicians develop personalized care plans for callers. County officials hope the pilot moves non-violent offenders from local jails into specialized care for psychological issues.
