Bastrop, TX City Council is considering a new micro-mobility ordinance for electric vehicles

Bastrop, TX micro-mobility ordinance for electric vehicles

Planning

The Bastrop City Council voted unanimously to consider a new ordinance which would regulate electric bicycle, GPS-equipped bicycle and motor-assisted scooter services. The regulations would require riders of these vehicles be at least 16 years old, yield to pedestrians, and obey traffic laws. The ordinance would encourage the use of helmets but not explicitly require them. The ordinance would prohibit passengers on the vehicles and limit use to zones with speed limits of 35 mph or less.
