Busselton, WA tests solar-powered shark monitoring and alert systems at two beaches
Busselton, WA Solar-Powered Shark Alert System
City officials added Spectur HD5 camera systems to Castle Rock Beach and Yallingup Beach for a three-month pilot. This solar-powered system sends live video to the city when shark activity is observed. The Spectur HD5 uses an AI-enabled motion detection program to reduce false alarms and activate audio warnings to beachgoers. Busselton adopted the SharkSmart WA app to map shark activity and customize follow-up responses.
