Central Coast, NSW gets smart with garbage bins to improve waste collection

Central Coast, NSW Smart Garage Bins Waste Collection

The council added the region's first solar-powered bin to The Entrance Town Centre. This bin uses solar energy to compact trash, which reduces service requirements. Forty-six existing bins were outfitted with sensors to evaluate current capacity. The sensors send notifications to council personnel when service is required. Central Coast will use data from retrofitted bins to better schedule collection routes.
