Christchurch City Council, NZ launched an EQRNet earthquake monitoring pilot program
Christchurch City Council, NZ EQRNet earthquake monitoring
Christchurch City Council partnered with Canterbury Seismic Instruments to launch a three-year pilot of EQRNet an earthquake response network. This network of 150 ground-based accelerometers allows Christchurch to monitor earthquakes in real-time. This process allows responders to analyze each buildings ability to withstand localised shaking. The goal of the EQRNet pilot program is to monitor the Christchurch area more effectively than the previous GeoNet system.
