The county council approved the expansion of sidewalks at high-traffic spots in Blackrock, Dalkey, and Glasthule. Five blocks were selected because of their proximity to narrow streets, circles, and intersections. Council personnel blocked street parking spots with traffic cones or barricades to allow more space between pedestrians. Disabled and cargo unloading spots are not included in the pilot.

Pilot Public Realm Project for Pedestrian Pinch Points | Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

dlr are proposing to increase space for pedestrians at a number of locations with observed pinch points. This will involve the temporary widening of the footpath by taking over sections of on-street car parking spaces, initially in the villages of Dalkey, Glasthule and Blackrock. These implementations will not affect disability parking or loading bays.
