Glasgow City Council, GB improves pedestrian traffic flow with Spaces for People initiative
Glasgow City Council, GB Spaces for People Pedestrian Flow
The Spaces for People program adjusts traffic assets to help pedestrians comply with COVID-19 distancing requirements. A Keep Left Advisory Sign trial encourages pedestrians in two precincts to stay to the left on sidewalks. A pilot program that automated walk signals at 20 intersections expanded to an additional 15 sites to reduce crowding at red lights. Glasgow also added distanced queues for public transportation and traffic-calming measures in George Square.
