The council worked with DSpark to integrate its API with in-house analytical software. This data included mobile tower and GPS device data valuable in evaluating traffic flows. Gold Coast used a holiday weekend in April to evaluate the demographics of visitors and the most visited precincts. The pilot found an 83% decrease in economic activity due to COVID-19 and an oft-overlooked group of tourists who spend as little as one hour in shopping areas.
