The City of Hamilton launched the Tenant Defence Fund Pilot Program (TDFPP) to help tenants facing evictions due to landlords who have applied for rent increases after so-called "renovations" are made to the property. The TDFPP provides resources and knowledge to help tenant groups fight back against rent increases at the Landlord Tenant Board. The support includes securing meeting space, printing documents relating to the grant application, and up to $1000 to hire legal counsel.
