Lake Barrington, IL brought paper-based business licenses online quickly to allow remote work

Rapid digital transformation in a small local government

In Progress

Lake Barrington (population 5,000) used workflow automation software to convert a paper-based business license to a digital workflow. Instead of Village staff doing data entry, processing check payments, and mailing license forms, everything happens online. Staff can adjust fees in real time and work from home. The Village was able to reduce fees in real time because of COVID-19, while maintaining operations and improving communication with businesses.
