Los Angeles County, CA ShakeAlert earthquake warning system
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) is partnering with Early Warning Labs to install "ShakeAlert" technology in every bus and rail facility. The ShakeAlert early warning system will detect earthquakes of magnitude 4.8 or greater and generate a report containing estimates of the earthquake's location, size, magnitude, and shaking distribution. Early Warning Labs will send these reports to L.A. Metro in order to protect employees, drivers, and passengers.
