The council offers a 10-week training program that turns sustainability project ideas into reality. Residents work with council staffers and guest speakers on strategy development for community gardens, green energy projects, and more. Free courses in environmental advocacy, leadership, and marketing help graduates integrate projects into local life. Program participants are encouraged to work with each other and incorporate feedback from council officers.

Project Succeeded

The Sustainability Champions Program was a finalist in the KVB Sustainable Cities Awards 2020. The program's early graduates created programs like Moonee Valley Repair Cafe and the Nature Strip Gardening Initiative.
