Oakville, ON takes steps toward electric public transit fleet with new buses and infrastructure
Oakville, ON Electric Buses Infrastructure Transit Fleet
The city council approved a seven-year plan to purchase 60 electric buses. An initial purchase of six plug-in buses and chargers allowed transit staffers to evaluate the best timeline for fleet replacement. Oakville officials set a goal of replacing the entire transit fleet with electric vehicles by 2035. Removing emissions created by six million kilometers of bus travel per year will help the city achieve an 80% greenhouse gas reduction by 2050.
