The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is launching a proof-of-concept pilot program to improve the travel time of light rail vehicles with lidar technology. The city is deploying Quanergy’s 3D Lidar Flow Management solution to measure and optimize traffic in real time. The goal of the pilot is to reduce transit vehicle travel times by using lidar to detect pedestrians and automobiles to avoid missing green lights without delaying other road users.
