Tazewell County, VA cross-training deputies as EMTs
In Progress
Tazewell County launched the The Law Enforcement EMT (LEET) Program to improve access to emergency medical assistance by training sheriff's deputies to serve as EMTs in rural areas. The Tazewell County Sheriff's Office is working with the county 911 dispatch center so trained deputies can be deployed to calls when EMT units are busy or too far away. According to the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, it is the only agency in Southwest Virginia with deputies cross trained as EMTs.
