Community Help Hub - working together to support our communities | Engage Barnet

Community groups across our borough are pulling together in an unprecedented way to support vulnerable people during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. To ensure that we are able to coordinate all our efforts effectively, Barnet Council is working with the Barnet Together partnership, and a task force of charities, faith groups and businesses to support vulnerable residents. We have set up this Community Help Hub to create a network of local support that will help our communities remain resilient during the COVID-19 lock down. We will be updating this page daily with more information about where you can get help, and how you can get involved. Thank you to all the Barnet residents who have taken on the national 2.6 Challenge to raise funds for the Barnet Community Response Fund. The money you raised will help local organisations provide support to the people who need it most. The activities kicked off on Sunday – when the 26.2-mile London Marathon would have happened. The London Marathon was cancelled to slow the spread of the coronavirus – but with it many charities lost the cash they would have earned through a major annual fundraiser. Among those involved in Sunday’s activities were Barnet Mayor Cllr Caroline Stock, Cllr Sara Conway and Cllr Ross Houston, who completed a joint challenge by walking 2.6km and raised over £500. What’s your 2.6 Challenge? Over £1,000 has been raised so far to help the community response to COVID-19 in Barnet and it’s not too late to take part! The national fundraiser is officially open until 3 May, so you can still donate here and don’t forget to share your celebration stories and photos.
