The city of Sint-Niklaas partnered with Bird, leading micro-mobility provider, to deploy electric scooters as an environmentally-friendly solution for last-mile transportation. The Bird e-scooters use GPS tracking to monitor usage and ensure proper parking, all users must be at least 18 years of age or older to drive, and any irresponsible driving while result in the user being banned from the app. The Bird mobile app's "community mode" allows users to report any e-scooter problems in the city.

Sint-Niklaas zet al jaren in op duurzame mobiliteit met vooral focus op een actief en veelzijdig fietsbeleid. Ook voor deelmobiliteit worden stappen gezet, met de aanwezigheid van fietsdelen aan het station en de promotie van autodelen. Met de elektrische deelsteps trekken we de lijn door. Ze zorgen niet alleen voor een verbetering van de luchtkwaliteit, ze zijn ook gemakkelijk te gebruiken en toegankelijk. Op alle vlakken winst dus.
