Barcelona, CT cashless payments public transportation
Complete
The City of Barcelona became the first city in Spain to eliminate cash payments for public transportation. The Barcelona Metropolitan Transport launched a service on all regular lines so passengers can purchase a single bus ticket with a bank card, mobile phone, or smart watch via the Europay Mastercard Visa reader. The new system was designed to offer an easy and secure alternative to paying inside vehicles while increasing the speed of service by avoiding the exchange of physical currency.
