Kirklees Council, GB encourages inclusive spaces with Dementia Friendly Design Tool

Kirklees Council, GB Dementia Friendly Design Tool

Complete

Kirklees Council developed the 82-page guide with researchers at the University of Stirling. Homeowners, businesses, and designers can audit their spaces in 11 technical areas including entrances, heating, and color contrasts. Color-coded sections explain best practices for seven environments ranging from shops to public spaces. Council officials implemented the tool by turning two libraries and a refurbished office building into welcoming spaces for residents with dementia.
