The City of Portland's Water Bureau partnered with Lucid Energy to launch the "Conduit 3 Hydroelectric Project". The project involved replacing a 50-foot section of the city's existing water supply network with four new turbines that generate electricity. The LucidPipe Power System turbines allow the water flowing through the city's pipes to produce electricity without any negative effects on the environment.

Project Succeeded
The Portland Water Bureau's "Conduit 3 Hydroelectric Project" received an Excellence in Engineering Award from the Pacific Northwest Section of the American Water Works Association. The Portland installation is the first project in the United States to secure a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for renewable energy produced by in-pipe hydropower in a municipal water pipeline.
