Manchester, NH is looking to become the first in New Hampshire to trial gunshot detection systems

The Manchester Police Department (MPD) is planning to become the first in New Hampshire to deploy the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system to combat gun violence. The MPD is looking to secure a $300,000 grant to cover the cost of ShotSpotter for a two-year pilot program across a three square mile section of the city. If the department receives the grant, the funds will then go through the city's Community Improvement Program approval process before being used to launch the pilot.

The Canton Police Department partnered with Wi-Fiber to deploy video, audio, and license plate surveillance equipment in order to identify criminal suspects and detect gunshots. The Wi-Fiber Smart City Platform, powered by BlueforceEDGE, helps the city's Real Time Crime Center enhance public safety through smart infrastructure such as lighting controls, two-way microphones, 4K cameras with AI services, and gunshot detection systems with IoT, 2/5G Wi-Fi, and LTE connectivity.

Columbus, OH is establishing a Crime Gun Intelligence Center dedicated to reducing gun violence

The City of Columbus is partnering with the Columbus Division of Police, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to establish a Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) to reduce gun violence. The CGIC will use gunshot detection systems to collect, analyze, and distribute information regarding gun-related crimes to better identify, apprehend, and prosecute perpetrators of gun violence.

Clark County, NV is expanding its ShotSpotter program from three-neighborhoods to 23 square mil

Clark County is expanding its ShotSpotter pilot from three-neighborhoods to 23 square miles of coverage. The system detects the sounds of gunshots and contacts local police. During a one year pilot, it detected 487 shootings in the county that were not otherwise reported.
