Byron, NSW Popcar Carsharing Services High-Traffic Areas
The one-year pilot placed eight shared cars in Byron and two shared cars in Mullumbimby. Residents in need of short-term car usage accessed vehicles by the hour or day through the Popcar app. Byron introduced carsharing to reduce traffic congestion in business districts and improve affordable access to vehicles. The Popcar pilot aligns with council goals to reduce emissions including a net-zero emissions goal for 2025.
