Atlanta, GA improves customer service in non-emergency situations with ATL311 chatbot

The Zammo-powered ATL311 chatbot provides automated answers to basic questions around the clock. Residents can open new service requests in seven categories such as public safety, parks, and street maintenance. This AI-enabled bot also provides updates about existing cases without the need for 311 calls. City officials introduced the chatbot as part of an expanded ATL311 service including a mobile app and an updated Interactive Voice Response system.

Virginia Beach, VA integrates AI-enabled chatbot into its VB311 citizen request service

The chatbot supports the VB311 team in handling approximately 1,000 chat requests from residents each month. This bot refers users to online resources and service request links based on its knowledge of frequently asked questions. Residents may also be referred to VB311's live chat for more complex requests. Virginia Beach asks the community to select the chatbot's name and logo from five finalists - Beachbot, Ask Neptune, Ask VB, VBBot, or Botsby.

San Francisco, CA trials complimentary graffiti removal for neighborhood businesses

Businesses face city inspection and removal fees if they fail to quickly clean graffiti. The two-year pilot mobilizes a six-member Public Works team for the free removal of graffiti on private premises. Business owners call the city's 311 line to report graffiti and schedule exterior wall cleaning. San Francisco approved the pilot for improved blight prevention without added costs for businesses re-emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brampton, ON Coyote Sighting Map provides easy-to-use information on recent coyote behavior

The Coyote Sighting Map pinpoints every sighting within Brampton city limits since October 2022. Residents call 311 or submit an online form to report pet conflicts with coyotes, dens, food sources, and injured coyotes. Each pinpoint can be clicked for information on the sighting's location, time, and date. Brampton created the map as part of a community education campaign featuring fact sheets in 12 languages with tips for safe encounters.

Little Rock, AR mobilizes neighborhood groups for streetlight mapping with Lights On Little Rock

Lights On Little Rock asked neighborhood associations to monitor streetlight performance. Participants built mapping routes in the Citizens Connect platform or contacted city employees for route-planning assistance. Each team reported flickering or non-functional streetlights through the LR 311 mobile app. Coordination between the groups and the city's data team prevented duplicate routes. The project produced valuable data for Little Rock and Entergy as they maintain 26,000 streetlights.

Lorain, OH is launching the SeeClickFix 311 citizen response system to solve local problems

The city of Lorain is launching the SeeClickFix program that will allow residents to report problems like potholes, a neighboring home that's fallen into severe disrepair or a business that stores junked automobiles on its property. The Lorain City Council approved spending $35,000 on the 311 citizen response system which can be access via a downloaded mobile app and web portal. Any information submitted into the system will be sent to the city it is logged and assigned to a city worker,

Chicago, IL created a Wildlife Management and Coexistence Plan to help residents and urban wildlife

The city of Chicago's Animal Care and Control Department partnered with the Lincoln Park Zoo's Urban Wildlife Institute to create a Wildlife Management and Coexistence Plan. The plan was designed to educate residents about the city's wild animals specifically in regards to when they can be left alone instead of captured. The department also updated its 311 system to prompt questions about an animal's behavior to redirect calls about peaceful animals to the plan instead.

The Municipality of Mendoza launched MendoBot a free automatic chat service which allows residents to ask procedure questions directly to government agencies. The MendoBot tool works via WhatsApp when users type the word "hello" to a specific number in order to access a menu of consulting options. The automatic chat allows residents to access the contact channels for all government agencies and receive answers to questions related to shifts, due dates, payments, complaints, claims, etc.
