The San Mateo County Police Department has installed software in officer laptops that allows them to listen to livestreamed 911 calls. The goal is to give officers responding to a call as much information as possible about the situation. In addition to hearing the call, officers can now see the location of the caller on a map.

Brown County, IN is offering voluntary live video streams for 911 calls to improve public safety
The Brown County Sheriff’s Department is using a new tool "Prepared Live" which allows dispatchers to ask smartphone callers, via a text message, for access to a live video feed and GPS location data. The Brown County Sheriff’s Department will not be able to access other data on smartphones, but calls will be recorded. Participation in a video call is completely voluntary, you must consent to the call and the software does not give the department access to data stored on the phone.

There is a “hide” feature in case it’s a domestic situation and the caller doesn’t want to give away that they are using their phone.

The Municipality of Argenteuil is expanding its social media presence to include TikTok and Snapchat with the intent of engaging a younger audience. The municipality's Youth Department is experimenting with these platforms to reach residents between the ages of 14 to 25 years old who do not usually read the municipal magazine or access the municipality's other social media channels.

Nynäshamn, SE improves health services for seniors with home care monitoring pilot
Eight seniors receiving home care from the city will be recruited for the program. Each home is outfitted with a camera that streams to Nynäshamn's Social Administration staff. Video footage allows carers to monitor their patients without the anxiety or stress of nighttime visits. The cameras also capture falls and other health issues requiring immediate responses. Nynäshamn will survey participants after the six-month trial to determine if monitoring should expand to other residents.

The city of Catamarca's Ministry of Security and Provincial Directorate for Human Development and Citizen Participation launched a TikTok video contest to prevent the sexual harassment of children and adolescents. The TikTok videos, which focused on protecting children and preventing grooming, were broadcast on the city's official Facebook page. The prizes for first place were a tablet and $5000 while second and third place were awarded a tablet and wireless gamer headphones.

East Grand Forks, MN partners with Youth Sports Plus to stream local youth hockey games
The city of East Grand Forks is partnering with Youth Sports Plus a Brainerd-based company to broadcast local youth hockey games over the internet. The company will install automated cameras in each of the city's three ice arenas and then charge fans to watch the hockey games. According to the three-year contract, the company will pay for the camera installations, split the revenue with the city, and allow for two banner ads per game for local sponsors.

Northern Beaches, NSW protects beachgoers from unsafe walkways with Early Warning System
Northern Beaches and the University of New South Wales developed the system for the Marine Parade walkway. This one-kilometer connection between Manly Beach and Shelly Beach is monitored by real-time video streams. Council officials receive daily forecasts of walkway inundation based on the system's storm and wave height estimates. An indicator light informs beachgoers if it is safe to use Marine Parade or an alternative route is required.
