Christchurch City Council introduced its first fully electric urban public bus service. The Council purchased three Alexander Dennis Ltd Enviro200EV electric buses and added them to the Red Bus public transport fleet. These electric buses were deployed on Route 29 making public transportation between the Christchurch Airport and central Christchurch 100% exhaust emissions free.
